Make your mind up to be happy

August 24, 2015admin

In the next couple of months, I will give you some exercises that can help you to live a happier and more fulfilled life. Studies have shown that these ideas work, and have the potential to really transform your life for the better. Make these exercises a habit!

3 Good things exercise

  • Reflect on your day/week and identify three good things that happened.

It does not matter if they are small or big.

  • Write these down using a journal or diary
  • Think about why these good things happened, and why you feel good about it. What did you do that contributed to that feeling?
  • Share it – with partner or a friend. It always makes you feel good when you remember and share these good feelings. It is far nicer to share the good than the bad or tedious.

This exercise gets easier over time. Here is an example of one of my journal entries.

Good things that happened.
I made contact with a friend that I have not seen for a while. We laughed and joked and enjoyed reconnecting.

Why did it happen?
Because I made the effort to call and arrange a meeting. I also was brave enough to reach out and risk rejection.

Result.
I have re-established an important friendship and am sure that we will engage more often. This will result in future happiness.
